Australian restaurants, cafés and bars in Bali: Aussie coffee, a Mildura pie and the footy by the pool

Updated 2026-11-05 · 6 min read

Drawing for Australian restaurants, cafés and bars in Bali: the ExpatCooee boomerang with the word FOOD, a flat white cup, a meat pie and a frangipani flower.
A taste of home in Bali: a flat white, a pie and a frangipani on the table.

Half of Bali's brunch scene feels Australian, but the venues with real Aussie roots that we could confirm for 2026 make a shorter list than you'd think.

The short version

  • For coffee, Revolver and Expat. Roasters both have Australian founders and several cafés across the island [1][2][3].
  • For brunch, Milk & Madu is co-owned by Australians and runs five Bali venues [1].
  • For a proper pie, The Aussie Bakehouse in Legian is run by Steve from Mildura [5].
  • For the footy, the Bali Geckos ran the 2026 AFL Grand Final party at Mrs Sippy in Seminyak, and Kuta Social Club screened AFL in February 2026 [6][8][9].
  • This is a short list on purpose. Lots of "Aussie" spots in older guides have closed or changed hands, and we only kept venues we could check.

Why this list is short

Bali has more Australians per square metre of café than anywhere outside Australia. The problem is that venues open, close and rebrand fast, and most online lists are years out of date. We went through them venue by venue and kept only places with their own website or social account and evidence they were trading in 2026.

That meant leaving out a lot of names: Sisterfields, Mason, Lucky Day, Bali Aussie Bar & Grill, The Goat, The Porch Café, Moo Moo's, OZ Britts, Bali Pies Guys, Ministry of Bakery, the Aussie Pies shop in Kuta and Adrenalin Sports Bar. Some of them are probably still going. We just couldn't confirm it from a current source. Finns in Canggu used to be the big grand final venue, but we couldn't confirm a 2026 AFL screening there. If you know one of these is alive and well, tell us in the group and we'll check it.

Coffee and brunch

Revolver

Area: Seminyak, Petitenget, Canggu, Umalas, Kuta Beachwalk and the airport

Revolver was started by Australian surfers in 2012 [1] and is now one of the island's best-known coffee names. It started in Seminyak, and there are now branches from Canggu to the airport, with a new one at Beachwalk in Kuta [2]. Go for a flat white and a slow half-hour. It sells its own beans, and it runs a Revolver Run Club if you want to meet people before breakfast [2].

Expat. Roasters

Area: Petitenget, Beachwalk Kuta and the domestic arrivals hall at the airport

Expat. Roasters was founded in 2016 by Shae Macnamara, a Sydney barista who moved to Bali [3]. It roasts Indonesian beans, trains baristas and supplies cafés across the country. In Bali you'll find it on Jalan Petitenget, at Beachwalk and in the airport's domestic arrivals hall [4]. If your first job off the plane is a decent coffee, this is it.

Milk & Madu

Area: Berawa, Canggu (Beach Road), Seminyak, Ubud and Uluwatu

Milk & Madu is co-owned by Australians [1] and runs five venues in Bali. It calls its brekky set "Bali's #1 brunch", and it's a family-friendly all-day spot with pancakes, burgers, pizza nights, live music and kids' parties. Pick it for a big Sunday breakfast with the kids, then come back for the sunset cocktails.

Pies

The Aussie Bakehouse

Area: Jalan Padma Utara, Legian

The Aussie Bakehouse is owned and run by Steve, originally from Mildura in Victoria [5]. It does what it says on the tin: pies, sausage rolls, pasties, vanilla slices and chocolate eclairs. An Australian pie reviewer scored its new chunky steak pie 44 out of 50 in August 2026 [5]. It doesn't have a website, so check its Instagram before you go. It's about 50 metres from the Y-Bar in Legian [5].

Bars and where to watch the footy

Bali runs on WITA (UTC+8), two hours behind Melbourne and Sydney during the footy season. A 2.30pm grand final bounce in Melbourne is 12.30pm in Bali, which is just about perfect.

Mrs Sippy

Area: Seminyak

Mrs Sippy was opened by Andrew Stanway and Ben May, who brought the idea over from their Mrs Sippy in Double Bay, Sydney [7]. It's a pool and day club with a big saltwater lagoon pool and a sports bar. On 26 September 2026, it hosted "AFL Grand Final By The Pool", presented by the Bali Geckos, with big-screen coverage and a buffet package [6]. It was also on the AFL's official list of 2026 watch parties [9].

Kuta Social Club

Area: Mamaka by Ovolo, Kuta Beach

Kuta Social Club is the rooftop pool club at Mamaka, part of the Ovolo group, which also runs hotels in Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane and Canberra. It screened an AFL match with a free sausage sizzle in February 2026 [8], and it runs a Melbourne Cup party. Watch its events page for the footy and the first Tuesday in November.

How to plan a big game

  1. Follow the Bali Geckos. Bali's Aussie rules club ran the 2026 Grand Final party, and it's the best tip-off for where the footy crowd is going.
  2. Check the AFL's overseas list. In September the AFL publishes official watch parties around the world [9].
  3. For the NRL and Origin, ask around. We couldn't confirm a regular Origin venue in Bali for 2026. Seminyak sports bars usually screen the NRL Grand Final, but venues change every year.
  4. Book. Grand final tickets for pool clubs sell out.

All the venues at a glance

Venue Type Area
Revolver Café, coffee Seminyak and around Bali
Expat. Roasters Café, roaster Petitenget; Beachwalk; airport
Milk & Madu Café, brunch, bar Berawa, Canggu, Seminyak, Ubud, Uluwatu
The Aussie Bakehouse Pie shop, bakery Legian
Mrs Sippy Pool club, sports bar Seminyak
Kuta Social Club Rooftop bar, pool club Kuta

Australian products and meat

Most supermarkets in Seminyak and Kerobokan stock some imported goods, but prices are well above home. For meat, a January 2026 guide to Seminyak supermarkets recommends The Meat Emporium in Kerobokan for prime Australian beef [10]. For Vegemite and Tim Tams, ask in the group. Stock comes and goes.
